THE ANCESTORS HAVE SPOKEN

Yes, you are hearing voices.

Allow us to introduce ourselves. We are representatives of your ancestors. We love you more than you can possibly realize while in human form on planet Earth. We are speaking to you, yes you, because we feel your pain so deeply that we simply must intercede. You see, there are things that you simply must understand.

So ask us anything and we will reveal truth—the truth that will set you free.

Go ahead ask away?

Why did you allow yourselves to be enslaved?

Alright, we’ll fully explain, but we warn you in advance that it’s not simple.

First you must understand THE SECRET OF LIFE while on planet Earth. So here it is:

Love begets love,
and evil begets evil.
And love will always overcome evil
when loves acts to.
Yet evil always acts,
while love often waits.
Yet a life is just a moment in time
without a proper name,
while those we enhance or harm,
enhance or harm,
and enhance or harm,
for countless generations.

I don’t understand?

I know you don’t, yet; so stay with us now.

God had a tough situation. Folk down there on planet Earth were acting like human beings were chattel. Slavery rarely, if ever, had been so bad. All future generations were being doomed to be the property of others. He thought indentured servitude, being a serf, or facing starvation in a world of plenty was cruel. This depraved slavery, which was polluting the universe, was so much more immoral than just working and not getting paid. People were owning and abusing people, and their children, and their children, and their children, and so forth, with no end in sight. Yet, He had given us dominion over planet Earth, so He couldn’t just send a lightning bolt as a cloud of death and kill all their first born children. So, He finally turned to some of his most strong and most loving folks. Folks that would endure while serving with love, knowing that someday a better day would greet a future generation. He sent us, your African ancestors whose suffering convinced the world that, enough is enough and this stuff called chattel slavery just can’t be a part of God’s creation, any more.

You’ve got to be kidding. Slavery was some type of special assignment from the Creator?

Exactly! Now remember I said that first you had to understand the secret of life. Love always overcomes evil, but if love does not show up, then evil rules. We, your ancestors, were the love that showed up in order to move forward the positive evolution of human beings on planet Earth. And we did a darn good job, if we must say so ourselves.

Answer this, would you rather have been the slave or the slave-master?

What kind a question is that. Would I have rather been the slave or the slave owner? Are you kidding?

Would you have rather been a part of the group that suffered horrific abuse? Would you have chosen to be a part of this group whose language, traditions, understanding of God, freedom, happiness, and families were torn apart? Or would you have chosen to be a member of the group that abused, terrorized, and dehumanized fellow human beings for financial gain? Would you have chosen to be the slave with neither rights nor possessions, or the slave owner with the riches amassed from slave labor?

OK. Let’s assume that I get it. Let’s assume that I would have rather been the slave. But you suffered such abuse. How did you hang in there for centuries?

We’re really pleased that you would have joined us and not our oppressors! It is a serious question of values. Your answer may allow you to see yourself and your people in a totally different light. You see, your answer either honors or desecrates our sacrificial gift of holding on.

What sacrificial gift?

You.

Once we accepted the assignment and arrived here, we also had forgotten who we were. We are all a little piece of God. Yes, you and God are one. But we lived the life of the enslaved and it was not pretty. We held on in the days when hope unborn had died and death would have been a sweet release for only one reason. So that you could know today.

We believed that someday the freedoms and opportunities that you now enjoy would be realized. We lived for you—for our future generations—yes, for you. We chose life, so you might know today.
Wow! I hate to tell you this, but it’s a lot of racial self-hatred among us today. Now we don’t call it that, but we’re killing each other like our LIVES have no meaning, like our lives are worthless.

You don’t have to tell us, for we know. We watch you all the time. You have and continue to break our hearts. And we always wanted to help, but that isn’t allowed, yet we convinced the Creator to make an exception—which is why our voices are now resonating in your ears.

Why? Why do we kill one another all the time?

Because of slavery. It is because as a people, you have never processed the experience of slavery, so you continue to live the culture of the enslaved.

You’re not answering the question. You promised to answer my questions.

I am. Now you promised to be patient. You need to understand our history and your history.

I need you to think about culture for a minute. Culture defines every aspect of life and governs all behavior and choice. Culture dictates how we think, how we respond and relate to others, and how we view ourselves in relation to the world around us. To a very real degree culture is everything! Culture is the sum total of the attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that characterize how a group functions. African-American culture defines us as a people.

The challenges faced by the African-American community today are a direct result of slavery, yet you have no knowledge of how it has impacted you. You ignore us and refuse to examine your past. So you can’t connect the dots between the very ugly culture that we were forced to endure and your whacky self-destructive behaviors of today.

Self-destructive you say, no way! It’s the man that refuses to take his foot off my neck and give me a chance in life!
During slavery our diet was horrific. Today, you continue that same diet and call it soul food. It contributes mightily to you having the sickest and shortest life spans of all. Love yourselves with fruits, vegetables and grains—exactly what was denied us during slavery.

It was once dangerous to encourage a child to seek education, so we told them that education was only for white children. Today, you allow your children to denigrate those who are excelling educationally. So, many of your children are actually trying not to learn.

There was no shame in having been to prison during Jim Crow when the charge was vagrancy (simply not having a job). Today, you don’t even ostracize those who deal drugs of death to their very own people merely for financial gain. They operate in the open, so you are complicit in the destruction of your own seed. You’re not snitching and this makes many of your communities lawless, necessitating bars on your windows and doors. You have a shared responsibility to protect your families.

During our time as slaves, marriage and fatherhood were hollow, when any white person could take your wife or child at any time—but not today. Yet your relationships are harsh, hollow and often abusive.

One exhibiting a poor work ethic during slavery was a brave prince—today they are a fool that can’t even care for himself.

Today you are powerless only because you believe that you are. Stop living the culture of the enslaved. Let go of the unconscious negative mental legacies of slavery.

But we are powerless, aren’t we?

African-American culture today is a direct extension of our slave culture of yesterday. Today is a haunting reflection of our awful past. You have the power to change this. What constrains you today is between your ears; and you can re-contextualize that any time you choose.

Because you have failed to really face the horror of slavery so you can heal from it, you remain dis-empowered by our past. You must bring the realities of slavery into the light, examine it, and learn of the culture that we were forced to endure. So you can cast off unconsciously living the negative mental legacies of slavery. Leave slave culture behind and create a grand future for yourself—please! Stop acting like you ain’t got no ancestors, no God.

How do we do that? How do we experience this healing transformation of which you speak? And is it really possible? Whenever we try to improve our condition, it just seems to keep getting worse. Except for those who believe that they have made it because they have money.

Please, one question at a time. This stuff is complicated and we only have this one opportunity to communicate directly with you.

The biggest impediment to your healing your community is the belief that you cannot. You see, you can’t do anything that you think you cannot do, because if you don’t think you can, then you don’t really try. We are trying our best to convince you of this simple fact.

Stop being upset and disappointed in others. Stop waiting for an apology and some reparations. They don’t understand race in America either, because we have all been in denial. Just do what you can to do what you ought, and leave hoping, and fearing alone.

I’m not afraid of anything.

Are you absolutely certain? Seems to us that you are not trying. The truth is that, if you give your all then you can’t possibly fail; for worst case you’ve had a great learning experience which will serve you well next time. But if you don’t really give your all, if you don’t really try, then by definition you have failed yourself, and your family, you’re your ancestors.

You see Africans and Caribbean blacks darker than yourselves excelling in this country; and no one is helping Mexican immigrants who are excelling with a strong work ethic and a focus of achieving in order to help one another. It is not your race that is constraining you, it is the negative mental programming that is still between your ears.

Let us give you a statement to remember long after this ringing in your ears ends. A people who believe that they have no control over their condition, can do nothing to improve their condition. Know that you can always improve your condition. We could not, yet you definitely can; you simply must believe you can.

IT CAN’T POSSIBLY BE AS SIMPLE AS YOU ARE MAKING IT OUT TO BE.

That is both correct and incorrect at the exact same time.

There is a simple requirement for a healing transformation of your community. In order to heal your community, you must first love yourselves enough do something; for nothing happens until someone does something. You must be the someone who does something. No one else will, nor can anyone else.

No one will try to stop you from loving one another and ministering to one another and creating a healing community of love. Claim the power that we didn’t have, claim your power to recreate your culture and heal your land. You can do this. But you absolutely must claim it and then show up each day to make it happen. Do you understand?

But we have no money! We have no power! We can’t hire ourselves!

Are we actually failing you right now, my beloved child?

You will always be able to spend as much as you can make. If you do, then you will never know financial security. Live within your means. If that means that many share expenses in the same house, then do it joyously, harmoniously, and helpfully. Demand it of one another. It’s just fine to demand that loved ones be responsible. Otherwise, you let them wallow in their self-created mental misery and you are denying them the opportunity to realize their own empowerment. By the way, always pay yourself first. Pretend it is tax. A tax for your retirement and financial security. It will accumulate over the decades. It’s called wealth. You’ve got to love yourself.

You can’t take money with you into the promised land. Yet you need to recognize your power to earn it honestly. Just become an employee who is so valuable, that your employer cannot even imagine not benefiting from your service.

Those who are so moved to create businesses, when they have your support, will create jobs for your children. You can remove your crabs in the barrel –
Willie Lynch – white man’s ice is colder – thinking from your mind with the blink of an eye—once you choose to stop being played by mental programming that is centuries old.

You keep using the word love. Why?

Because it is all about love.

Loving yourself enough to eat right, sleep enough, exercise, get those regular physical examinations, and to seek help at the first sign of mental illness. Love yourself enough to do meditation or yoga to keep stress in check.

And yes, to NOT do drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or anything else that you know is not good for you—that is slowly killing you. Only people who don’t love themselves or who have pain that they are denying do that; unless they are addicted. When one is ready, with help, you can love yourself enough control addiction too.

Love yourself enough to seek out and take advantage of opportunities to grow in empowerment and earning potential. Today there are lots of technical certifications that you can earn at home that will allow you to command real income. If you have no money, Pell Grants will often cover the full cost of a junior college, followed by scholarships at public colleges because you did so well at the junior college. Get a job with a growing employer and then apply for every better job that becomes available. Do each job better than it has ever been done before. When you put aspiration into action, you’ll find a job you can love. That love will create a career that soars; and that career will provide a satisfying income. Know that you can and wake up every morning joyously going forth and making it happen.

Think of loving one another and being firmly committed to aid them in realizing their potential as an empowered adult. An empowered adult is one with high character, virtue, values, and life skills. But love sometimes is demanding. Love is always truth telling. Truth is good and appropriate, at all times and in all places, when spoken with love. People won’t explode because you calmly speak truth to them. It’s probably exactly what they need to hear…so love them.

Love your family and your community enough to constantly demonstrate your love for them. Know that you can’t be a better parent than you know to be. Many parents just didn’t know how to effectively parent. So read books. Take courses. Care enough to find out how to be better at it. This is love in action.

Love your community enough to volunteer. Just decide what you care about the most and find a worthy opportunity to personally contribute to the healing of your community. The demonstration of communal love via voluntary service will create a powerful force for righteousness. When you and others create a healing community of love, then all will thrive beyond your wildest dreams.

Just act on the secret of life—evil cannot prevail unless love doesn’t show up. Show up with love every day and watch what will happen.

I hear you. I must admit that I am now in tune with everything you have said. So why do I still feel unsure and uncommitted? What do you want from me anyway?

We want you, our descendants, to heal. That’s all, and truly it is time for you to heal yourselves. It pains us to see what you have become. We want you to know that you have great value. That you have been paid for. We paid for you, at a great cost. So act like you have great value.

We want you to know that you are a little piece of the Creator. That is what you are, not some cursed being that we were once told that we were. The Creator does not make no junk, nor curse his creation. Being Love, He doesn’t condemn. He has to allow you to make wrong choices, so you can identify and make righteous ones. That’s your thing on planet Earth, to decide who you choose to be while here, and then be it. This way you can experientially realize your divinity—or not. Being Love, the Creator can only say yes to your deepest desires. But know that his desire is love—not your hitting the Lottery, or somebody winning some ball game, or your trying to make someone else love you. If that’s what you ask for you’ll be disappointed.

Ask Him to help you become a terrific parent, or for you to become a more loving partner, or to unselfishly aid another, or create a better world for the next generation, or to win on the battlefield against evil—and the Creator will take joy in orchestrating the universe to aid you in your positive creation of love.

He’s the big Creator and you are made in his likeness. So that makes you a little creator, yet one attached to the big Creator, who is Love, so He can only love you. Think about it—you are never alone. You are an immortal soul, inside a physical body while on planet Earth, so you really cannot be destroyed or even know harm forever. And when this experiential journey is over, you return to the source. You return to pure love.

Take joy in this opportunity to choose who you will be. Know that you can wake up any morning and recreate yourself—any way you want—good or bad. You are the creator of your reality. So consciously choose. Don’t insult the Creator by feeling and believing that you are powerless. Or by giving your power to another, then feeling sorry for your poor powerless self. You are not poor nor powerless, yet when you believe that you are, you can successfully fool yourself. This is the only way that you can deny your power.

We, your once enslaved ancestors were never poor or powerless either! Any night we could have killed all our abusers before the sun climbed into the sky. Our Love had us chose not to. In fact, our love was so strong that this rarely ever happened. That is why we were chosen, because we can love that much.
So know that you come from strong stock. Yours is not a race bred from the weak, yours is a race bred from the very strongest, most loving people on the planet at that time. It pains us that you are unknowingly suffering because of our act of love. It was never our intention that you would suffer from negative mental legacies of slavery.

Know this. The moment you are aware that these negative legacies exist, you are free of them at that very moment. You just have to claim the healing.

We call it transformational healing. You Americans are really into material things. Material things are not a part of your three part being. Money is simply something that your society can use to demonstrate your love for one another—or not. And who said any of you could privately own the Creator’s creations anyway—the land, the minerals, wood and stone. Native Americans were correct. We are stewards, not owners, of the Creator’s creation.

What else?

You are a three part being, physical, mental and spiritual.

Your culture almost totally ignores the third part of your being—the spiritual. Please note that I didn’t say religion, which is an invention of man that has been used for both good and evil, over time and also now. Your spirit is the part of a person that is the seat of emotions and character; the soul. It needs attention also. It is the seat of love, compassion, inspiration, aspiration, empathy, and the motivation to love self and all others. It inspires you to turn your concern into action, to be the change that you wish to see in the world. It sustains your good spirit (pun intended) in times of challenge. It is the seat of true happiness and joy.

Recognize your spirit. Examine it. Nurture it. Have high aspirations for it. Make it happy.

Take silent time to communicate with your soul each day. Listen to it for it gives grand advice. Its vision is broader than yours, as is its experience, and it wants only good for you. Listen to your spirit closely enough and you will hear the voice of God, which will guide you if you allow it.

Will I hear from you again? Can I ask more questions later?

Yes, and no. Assistance is always only an ask of help away. But our initiating conversation like this is most rare. As I said it took special permission. So you won’t hear this message again from us. We are visiting some others, and you are certainly free to share our message with whoever you love. Take it literally if you like, or use it just as food for thought. You are always choosing at least how you react to what you perceive is happening to you; but now you know that you are in control of your life, and to a large degree, the holistic health of your family. Together with every member of your community you define and can recreate and/or improve your culture. Culture is everything, it’s like the communal soul of a people. So nurture it carefully and explicitly.

Two last things. There is absolutely no reason for an oppressed people not to work together to mitigate their own oppression and to generate a healing transformation of their community. Waiting for a fair equitable, and humane society is both insanity and an absolute guarantee of additional pain. Doing—with the fierce urgency of now—all that you can to mitigate your own situation, by empowering yourselves, is what you must be and do.

Finally, what if only African Americans can heal the African-American community? When you have experienced a healing transformation of your community and culture, then it will be impossible for anyone to mistreat or abuse you.

We love you dearly, for you are love itself. Now, go forth, recognizing the power you have to create your destiny. Make conscious decisions, knowing that they will shape your destiny. That’s our message—you must know how powerful you are.

Our hope is that, with dignity, you will determine your destiny.

For love is the weapon, and dignity is the prize.
